Men`s and Ladies Tailored Clothing Manufacturer seeks designer/merchandiser to assist with merchandising, product development, and design. You will be working with a dedicated team on global scale. This is an opportunity to learn all aspects of international business as well as the fashion industry. You should be able to draw, sketch, use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Work in the heart of the fashion district in the Fashion Tower. Key Accountabilities:
Design, Merchandising and Trend Direction.
• Responsible for research and development of seasonal trends.
• Assist in interpreting seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities for key accounts.
• Partner with Production Manager in set-up and presentation during customer presentations.
• Prepare line and presentation material for line previews and buy meetings, including color/concept boards, print boards and may include story boards.
• Partner with Production Manager in set-up and how to present to customers in line reviews and market visits.
Detailed Accountabilities:
Design and Trend Research:
• Shop the retail market seeking new merchandise/trend ideas.
• Shop the trend market seeking design inspiration (materials, fashion, color, trade shows) as needed.
• Interpret specific color palettes, patterns and prints for the season.
• Select and approves style, materials, trims and colors that fit into the program and style plans
• Responsible for creating and distributing fabric development packages.
• Responsible for creating and distributing color cards & pattern development sheets.
• Develop flat mechanical sketches for design development packages and request development samples.
• Responsible for tracking and approving labs dips, fabric samples, strike-offs and other development materials
Merchandising/Product Development:
• Adhere to the seasonal time and action calendar.
• Modify the product line based on target customers needs. Follow the customers input.
• Assist in identifying the key programs that comprise each classification.
• Communicate regularly with production manager to gather input and share line development direction.
• Communicate on a daily basis with overseas offices to share line development direction.
Production:
• Attend fit sessions. Understand Technical process.
• Select and approve materials, patterns and colors.
• Use CAD programs for style, color and pattern development
Develop Tech Packs for each target customer.
Trim Cards created for each product line.
Skill Summary / Experience:
• Bachelor`s Degree in Design or Fine Arts or equivilent.
• 2-5 years of industry experience.
• Strong color sense / print sense.
• Ability to view and differentiate the color spectrum.
• Proficiency in PC operation, MS office and Excel
• Strong working knowledge of Illustrator, CAD, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Demonstrated creative ability.
• Presentation and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines.
Understand Fabric construction, design and dying process.
Compensation:
48,000 Annual Salary
100% paid medical and dental benefits
Two paid weeks vacation
